Family Gold was created in 2020 by Local Eclectic founder Alexis Nido-Russo with the intention of making high quality pieces at an affordable price point to make fine jewelry accessible to everyone. For the third season of Family Gold, Alexis was inspired by the youthful energy of spring and the joy that comes along with that first taste of warmer weather, when our spirits rise and everything around us starts to bloom. The mixed metal braided necklace and bracelet were a bit of a happy accident. I wanted to create a necklace and bracelet that felt like an updated version of an old world classic but I had intended for it to be all yellow gold. Somewhere in the sampling process something was lost in translation and this necklace became mixed metal with both yellow and white gold. The result was even better than I had dreamed. I loved the mixed metal look so much I decided to produce it as is.

The 90's played a big role in defining the inspiration for this line. My second daughter's name is Apollonia and we call her apple. My first daughter's name is Soleil which means sun in French. I have so much sun jewelry but I don't have much to commemorate my second daughter so I wanted to create this piece for her. Family Gold was inspired by the idea of family heirlooms, meant to pass down for generations and this is a piece that will be in my collection forever. The apple is also a symbol of love, wisdom, fertility and abundance so while this piece was designed with my daughter in mind, there is symbolism in the apple that I felt would resonate with our customers.
