When we discovered Monsieur Blonde, we were nothing short of thrilled to find a designer who seemed as drawn to opals as we were.
The brand's work incorporates the stone alongside a variety of others, creating a balance between light and dark, soft and hard, and encompassing the very aesthetic of their home base of Bali.
We spoke to the founder about what brought their line to fruition and the minor and major ways they find inspiration on a daily basis.

When did you start your line and what motivated that decision?
We started with a small jewelry line in 2011 after meeting with the owner of a Beach Club boutique in Bali who was looking for new designers. Bali has an amazing vibe and you feel like everything is possible here.
How would you define your personal style?
Our style is refined and timeless, inspired by vintage treasures. Our collections offer delicate designs and fine materials. We like to mix French style, femininity, and elegance with unrefined gemstones.
What inspires you on a daily basis?
Everything we see or remember can inspire us with new ideas. Inspiration mostly comes when thinking of memories and sensations.
How do you think that's reflected in your work?
Designing is a very personal process and we like the idea of sharing the result of it. Making women feel pretty makes us love our job. While shopping, there's nothing more exciting than finally finding the piece you've been dreaming and searching for. We hope people have this feeling with our jewelry.
Where do you live and how does that location's people and culture influence you as an artist?
We are based in Bali, but also travel quite often. We work in close collaboration with some truly talented Indonesian craftsmen, which is how we develop the fusion between delicacy of fine jewelry and ancient techniques such as carving or macrame. Our jewelry line is handmade in small Bali factories.
