Meet the Muse: Christie Tyler

IF THERE'S ONE SILVER LINING WITHIN THE INCREASINGLY SATURATED INDUSTRY OF BLOGGING, IT'S THAT IT ALLOWS FOR TRULY AUTHENTIC VOICES TO BE HEARD. ENTER CHRISTIE TYLER, AN NYC-BASED BLOGGER AND PHOTOGRAPHER WHO HAS SOMETHING TO SAY AND KNOWS EXACTLY WHO SHE WANTS TO SAY IT TO.

AT JUST 20 YEARS OLD, TYLER HAS ESTABLISHED AN IMPRESSIVE INSTAGRAM FOLLOWING OF OVER 200,000 PEOPLE, IS NOW REPRESENTED BY WILHELMINA APERTURE TALENT, AND BALANCES ALL OF THIS WHILE BEING A STUDENT TO BOOT.

WISER THAN HER YEARS WITH THE "OLD SOUL" AESTHETIC TO MATCH, WE SPOKE WITH TYLER ABOUT WHAT IT TOOK TO GET STARTED AND WHERE SHE'S GOING NEXT.

When did you first begin your blog, NYC BAMBI, and what inspired this medium?

I started with a Tumblr a couple of years ago, not meaning at all for it to turn into a fashion blog. I just wanted a place where I could reflect and post random photos I would take.

People started asking me for advice about styling and I fell in love with talking to everyone and creating fashion content. That's when I created my Instagram and then my official blog, NYC BAMBI! I never knew it would turn into this but I am so happy that it did.

What typically goes into creating an original blog post and where do you source your inspiration from?

I gain a lot of inspiration from Tumblr and Pinterest, and on random days, will jot down ideas for blog posts that I definitely want to do in the future.

Once I've decided on posts I want to do, I take the photos and once editing is done, write up the entire article. I proofread it a billion times, add little tweaks here and there, and then plan when it should go live.

I want to create posts that are helpful but also fresh from what other people may be doing, so I gain a lot of different inspiration from various places.

You possess a drive and a work ethic that has carried you a long way. Are there any women you look up to in that regard?

Thank you so much. I am so inspired by business women and women that have started their own companies, women like Emily Weiss. I can only hope I will be there someday.

With blogging being such a saturated market, what piece of advice do you have for anyone interested in creating their own blog?

I really urge people to be unique and different with what they do if they want to start their own blog. There has to be just a little thing that sets you apart.

There can be a lot of the same sort of things trending, so it's important that even if you follow the trends, you are unique in the way that you style them or unique in the way that you take the photo, write, edit video, etc. in whatever platform you may want to pursue.

I am always drawn to people that do things differently and I feel like that is very important in today's saturated market.

You often document your jewelry collection. What's your go-to piece of jewelry and why?

I love wearing layered gold rings. Even on a casual day, you'll never spot me without my gold jewels.
