Old Fashioned with Hélène Heath

Hélène Heath is a New York City based consultant, writer, and content creator. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and dog, Wally. Typically happiest when she's juggling a million projects at once, what truly fuels her fire is fashion, food, and travel. 




  • Ice
  • Bourbon or rye 
  • One orange (for the rind)
  • Angostura bitters
  • Simply syrup
  • Optional: Fennel bitters and grapefruit bitters


  1. Put rocks in a shaker. 
  2. Add 2 oz of bourbon.
  3. Add a few dashes of the bitters. 
  4. Add splash of simple syrup (to taste).
  5. Add a piece of orange rind.
  6. Stir the mixture (do not shake). 
  7. Put rocks in glass.
  8. Pour drink from shaker into glass.
  9. Rim glass with another piece of orange rind.
