What's the Difference Between Simulated and Lab Created Diamonds?

Gorgeous natural diamonds.

Show-stopping simulated diamonds.

Most everyone knows what a diamond looks like. However; when it comes to identifying a simulated diamond from a lab created one, it can become difficult for an untrained eye to recognize subtle differences.

Simulated diamonds, intended to act as stand-ins for the true gem, are actually made up of a variety of materials. Cubic zirconia is one of the most popular examples of simulated diamonds and is composed of a crystal form of zirconium oxide. Moissanite, on the other hand, is made up of crystal carbide, allowing for enhanced sparkle.

Whereas simulated diamonds merely mimic the appearance of actual diamonds, lab created diamonds are in fact diamonds, only manmade.

When it comes to selecting stones, it's important to be educated on what you're purchasing and how it can best serve you. One of the greatest benefits of both simulated and lab created diamonds is that they tend to be more affordable than natural diamonds, allowing for greater accessibility.
